City Builds IPJ to Control Inflation

City builds system in which the citizens can see and input food prices to control inflation in the capital city. Thus, the citizens would get accurate information on food prices and market actors would not set high price

Jakarta Provincial Government is trying to control inflation rate in the city by cooperating with Bank of Indonesia and creating Strategic Food Prices Information Center (PIHPS) which named Jakarta Food Information (IPJ).

May, Inflation in Jakarta Reached 0.05 Percent

City builds system in which the citizens can see and input food prices to control inflation in the capital city. Thus, the citizens would get accurate information on food prices and market actors would not set high price,” stated Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Thursday (6/26).

According to Basuki, IPJ’s development was initiated by Jakarta Inflation Control Team (TIPD) together with Jakarta Provincial Government, Bank of Indonesia, and PD Pasar Jaya. Inflation control is assessed very important because Jakarta becomes the barometer of other regions’ economic development.

“Moreover, Jakarta as a metropolitan city is a national economic barometer. I hope this IPJ would give big contribution to the shape of national inflation rate,” he uttered.

Through IPJ, which can be accessed on http://infopangan.jakarta.go.id, citizens can know the prices of 34 food commodities in 13 markets in Jakarta. Those markets consist of two wholesale markets (Cipinang Rice Wholesale Market and Kramat Jati Wholesale Market) and 11 other markets spread on five municipalities, namely Senen, Jembatan Merah, Pasar Minggu, Glodok, Grogol, Pramuka, Mayestik, Jatinegara, Kramat Jati, Sunter, and Rawa Badak markets.
